Sheshadripuram Government School is CREDAI-Bengaluru's 8th Happy School

CREDAI Bengaluru has undertaken a long-term mission to improve the quality of education among government schools. As a step in this direction, it has joined hands with the Rotary India Literacy Mission (RILM) for Project “Happy Schools†which will see them taking up 20 government schools and improving infrastructural and other requirements. These improvements will see better attendance as well as an enhancement in the quality of education provided on these campuses.
The refurbishing work at the Government School at Sheshadripuram was inaugurated recently as part of the “Happy Schools Projectâ€. This school is now the 8th in the series of 20 schools that are being taken up by the two organizations, in quick succession.

The Government School of Sheshadripuram will have a water purifier plant on the campus that has been developed exclusively for the children. Clean drinking water will be a given for the students of the school. All the children at the school will also be provided with school shoes, Lab Equipments ,sports equipments & “e “learning Kit for Quality Educations.
“CREDAI-Bengaluru will be sharing 50% of the normative costs of each Happy School with RILM. This cost currently stands at Rs 5 lakh. Each school will have its own set of requirements and the total cost arrived at will be shared on a 50-50 basis.

Project “Happy Schools†under T-E-A-C-H, has selected 20 state-funded elementary schools (classes I-VIII) and/or secondary schools inclusive of elementary classes, to provide multi-level infrastructural upgrades. Schools selected for this project are from the Greater Bengaluru region of the RI District 3190. There are 8 main facilities being considered and a school is said to be a ‘Happy School’ when it has at least five of the below aspects looked into:
• A well maintained, secure school building
• Hygienic toilets for boys and girls
• Safe and adequate drinking water in the premises for all
• A well-stocked library
• Clean uniforms and footwear for each of the students
• Safe and adequate play and sports equipment
• Quality benches and desks for teachers and students to facilitate better interaction
• Quality spaces for teachers as well
On the completion of work at a Happy School, signage approved by both the CREDAI and RILM will be prominently displayed at the school for a minimum period of 10 years from the date of inauguration.
Immediate Past President and CSR Advisor C N Govindraju have ably supported by CREDAI Bengaluru President J C Sharma spearheaded this entire operation.
Speaking on the occasion, N Naresh Suvarna, CEO CREDAI said, “We believe that a child’s environment has to be conducive to learning. Government schools are often in a state of dereliction and we would like to change that with this initiative. It is indeed a great thing to have every CREDAI-Bengaluru member be a part of this projectâ€.
Mr.Suresh Hari also emphasized the association’s resolve to address the growing need of quality education at primary level. The Guest of Honor, Councillor BBMP Latha RJ, who was also a part of the inaugural ceremony expressed her thanks to CREDAI and Rotary for the effort and assured all support in improving learning experiences of schools in her ward.
