West Indies captain Jason Holder calls on stagnant Windies to improve in Oz series

West Indies captain Jason Holder has called on his teammates to make drastic improvement in their performance after suffering an abject 10-wicket defeat to Cricket Australia XI ahead of their three-match Test series against Australia.

The tourists barely managed to avoid an innings defeat and set the home side a win target of mere 10 runs. Holder was the only batsman to show some resistance by scoring 65 off 99 balls.

Holder said that they expected criticism for their performance but added that they needed to improve and make strides forward as they had been stagnant for the last few months.

West Indies, which is currently in a declining phase, had last claimed a Test victory in Australia in 1997 and will aim to improve that record when they take on second-ranked Australia in the first Test in Hobart on Thursday.
