West Indies all-rounder Marlon Samuels has received a one-year suspension from bowling by the International Cricket Council after failing to clear a test on his action.

This was the second ban for the 34-year-old, whose bowling action came under review after the first Test defeat against Sri Lanka in October. Samuels then had his action tested at the ICC accredited centre in Brisbane earlier this month.

According to the Guardian, the ICC said the assessment revealed that Samuels’ elbow extension exceeded 15 degrees while bowling and, therefore, he employed an illegal bowling action.

The part-time off-spinner had earlier served a near four-year bowling ban from 2008 and was allowed to bowl again in 2011 with a remodeled action.

The ICC added that he was not eligible to have his action re-assessed until the ban ends.
