New Zealand bowling coach Dimitri Mascarenhas on Doug Bracewell Test in Dunedin

New Zealand bowling coach Dimitri Mascarenhas has heaped praise on bowler Doug Bracewell, describing him probably the `best` bowler, during his side’s 122-run win over Sri Lanka the first Test in Dunedin.

The 25-year-old, who had been luckless during the first Test as he dropped two catches, ended the match when he dismissed Sri Lanka’s number tenth batsman Suranga Lakmal.

“Doug’s probably been the best bowler, but he isn’t getting all the wickets. That’s how teamwork goes in a bowling unit. Sometimes it might be your day. As long as you keep plugging away, the next day will be his,” Mascarenhas was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

The bowling coach further hailed Bracewell, saying that the latter had been working extremely hard and said that he hopes he would soon going to get a lot of wickets.

“For Doug, it’s all about hitting his areas as hard as he can for as long as he can. One of his big work-ons has been to swing the ball a bit more consistently, and he’s working really hard at that. If he keeps putting the ball where he is at the moment, he’s going to get a lot of wickets.”

Describing the upcoming Test against Sri Lanka as `tough`, Mascarenhas admitted that the opponents have got some really good players and said that his side would have to work harder to win the game.

“They’ve got some really talented and skillful players. It’s hard work. We know how strong they are. They’ve lost a couple of big players, but they ones coming in are getting opportunities and hopefully are going to be taking them. It’s going to be a tough Test,” he said

New Zealand have already taken an unassailable 1-0 lead in the two match series and will aim for a clean sweep when they will take on Sri Lanka in the second Test at Seddon Park, Hamilton, starting from December 18.
