The Brigade School @ Malleswaram celebrated their Annual Day recently with a lot of enthusiasm and fervor. The Annual Day is an occasion when children showcase their abilities and talents.

The theme of the year was Japan-the land of the rising sun! The students showcased Japanese culture through a spectacular show of dance, drama & music.

The Principal welcomed the guests and delivered the annual report. The ceremonial lamp was lit by our Chairperson, Head of the Foundation and the Principals of the respective schools!

The Taiko drums performance was a thumping starter to the programme.

Taiko drums were used during battle to intimidate the enemy and the boys did this to perfection.

The children did eight dance numbers, each one better than the other. The colourful costumes and their accessories allowed our audience to understand the traditional heritage of Japan in different forms.

Two short plays, “Yukki and the Tsunami†and “A Thousand Cranes†were also performed reflecting the disaster of the Tsunami in Japan and the aftermath of the bombings on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Imaginative props and lighting effects brought the drama to life, bringing Japan to our doorstep! The performances were spell binding and had the parents look on in wonder!

The song “Heal the World” from Michael Jackson’s hit album, “Dangerousâ€, was sung as a reflection of the wars of the world and its all-pervading aftermath.

“Heal the World†also echoes the terrible disaster at Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

The National Anthem was sung as a finale to the evening.

An awesome evening and hats off to the effort put together by the students and the teachers.
