Donald Trump is weighing in on the Miss Universe mishap.
Miss Universe 2015: Miss Colombia Crowned by Mistake— Miss Philippines is the Winner!
The former owner of the organization is speaking out on Miss Colombia accidentally being crowned Miss Universe instead of the real winner Miss Philippines.
“Very sad what happened last night at the Miss Universe Pageant. I sold it 6 months ago for a record price. This would never have happened!,†he tweeted.
Trump also spoke on the Today show about the seriously embarrassing moment.
“I’ll tell you what I think I’d do, I think I’d make them a co-winner, that would be very cool,” Trump told Matt Lauer over the phone.
Trump owned the Miss Universe franchise for 15 years before selling it to WME | IMG earlier this year.
“I would recommend that they go have a beautiful ceremony, which is good for the brand and good for Miss Universe, and do a co-winner. I think something like that could work,” he said.
One thing Trump did make sure to do was recognize Steve Harvey’s mistake could have happened to anyone under the circumstances.
“It was a tough evening, but you know what? Steve Harvey is a terrific guy and things like this do happen,†he said.
