Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez is taking her loss in stride!
The 21-year-old responded after accidentally being crowned Miss Universe due to Steve Harvey announcing the wrong winner. Despite the total fail, Miss Colombia remained very graceful during her post-show interviews.
“Everything happens for a reason,” she said. “I’m so happy, thank you for voting for me.”
Gutierrez also shared several photos of herself wearing the crown on her Instagram.
“This moments will always be with me #missuniverse #misscolombia #backtoback Lo logramos COLOMBIA!,” she captioned the photo.
Fellow Colombiana, Sofia Vergara tweeted her support after the incident.
“La Reina de todos modos @guitierrezary #colombia,” she tweeted out yesterday.
Harvey has seen apologized and the Miss Universe organization provided an official statement to People about the whole thing.
The excitement of live TV was evident last night on the Miss Universe stage with more than 10 million live fan votes tabulated,” the statement said. “Unfortunately, a live telecast means that human error can come into play. We witnessed that when the wrong winner was initially announced. Our sincerest apologies to Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez Arevalo, Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, their families and fans. We congratulate Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach as Miss Universe 2015.”
