Assam government to launch the Food Security Act today

Assam government will launch the Food Security Act on Thursday.

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi will launch the programme at Goroimari in Kamrup District.

Earlier, the Assam Chief Minister said that a total of 2.40 crore people will be benefited from the scheme.

The government said that 60 percent population from the towns and 84 percent of the people living in villages will be benefited.

According to the Act, every eligible person will get five kilograms of rice every month at the cost of three rupees per kilogram.
