Afghanistan will host the first round of preparatory meeting with Pakistan, the United States and China next week to gear up for possible reconciliation talks with the Taliban, an official at the Afghan president’s office said.
The preliminary meeting will focus on the move to resume the peace process, which was stalled in July following the death reports of Taliban chief Mullah Omar.
The decision to hold the first round of preparatory meetings in Kabul follows Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif’s visit to Afghanistan on Sunday.
