Prime Minister Narendra Modi remembered how PDP chief Mufti Mohammad Sayeed provided a healing touch to J-K through his leadership.

Expressing his condolence at the demise of the 79-year-old leader, Prime Minister Modi said that his demise leaves a huge void in the nation and in Jammu and Kashmir, where his exemplary leadership had a major impact on people’s lives.

“What stood out about Mufti Sahab was his statesmanship. In his long political journey he won many admirers across the political spectrum,” he wrote in a tweet.

“Mufti Sahab provided a healing touch to J-K through his leadership.

He will be missed by all of us. Condolences to his family and supporters,” he added.

Sayeed was admitted in a private ward in AIIMS on December 24 after he complained of fever and chest pain. He was later detected with sepsis, decreased blood counts and pneumonia.

Mehbooba Mufti is set to be the first woman Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir after Mufti Saheb’s tragic death.
