The secret’s out – the latest addition to the Xiaomi product line is a wireless router, as CEO Lei Jun indicated two days ago in a mysterious post on Weibo.
If you’re glancing at the above screenshot and thinking, “That looks a lot like the Mac Pro,” you’re not alone. On the product page’s FAQ section, the company semi-jokingly urges users to “look at it from another angle.”
The company posted more pictures of the device on the Xiaomi forums.

Further details have yet to be revealed by Xiaomi, though rumors about pricing and specs have already begun circulating on the Chinese internet. Techweb reports that one “can be sure” that the device supports 2.4GHz/5GHZ dual-frequency wi-fi. Xiaomi hasn’t disclosed the router’s price, stating on the product page FAQ “There’s no price for true love.”
The company started taking pre-orders for the device this morning at 10AM, and the device “officially” goes on sale on 19 December. As usual, Xiaomi only offers the device through its official online channel.
In other Xiaomi news, the company held another flash sale yesterday on its website, and while the results aren’t quite as earth shattering as those on Singles Day, they’re still quite impressive. 21CN reports that the company sold another 100,000 Mi-3 smartphones in six minutes and 22 seconds, 50,000 Hongmi smartphones in three minutes and 58 seconds, and 5,000 smart TVs.
Last week, the Xiaomi sold 110,000 Mi-3 and Hongmi devices in under three minutes, bringing in RMB 107 million ($17.5 million) in revenue within that time.
