Foundation stone for new bus terminal laid at Nagarabhavi

Bangalore, Dec(15) ; Foundation stone for  BMTC’s  new bus terminal in Nagarabhavi was put down by Sri. R. Ramalingareddy,Hon’ble Transport Minister,Govt of Karnataka today in Nagarabhavi 2nd stage.

Spread accross 3 acres and 3 guntas, the new bus terminal will be built on a budget of Rs.7 crore. Mr. Reddy said that currently there were 12 schedules with 112 trips that were operated from Nagarabhavi 2nd stage and it would be increased to 80 schedules and 602 trips after the construction of the depot.

Apart from new bus terminal, BMTC is taking up many projects for the benifit of passengers they are:

* Intelligence transport system(ITS) with whooping Rs.70 crore.

* For safety purposes  cameras are inserted in 200 buses out of 500.

*Around 15 kiosks will be installed at bus stations to facilitate passengers  about information regarding the corporation, bus route, timings, bus fares, etc.

*  24/7 call centres with 10 employees working round the clock.

*Bus passes and tickets to be provided in smart card format.

* New mobile app to provide information about bus routes
