Different strategy for Lanka in second test: Misbah

Dubai, Jan 8: Pakistan skipper Misbah-ul-Haq has said they have set different plans for different Sri Lankan players for the second Test, as his team wasted an ideal opportunity to win the first test after earning a big first-innings lead.

Pakistan managed to dismiss key Sri Lanka players Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene early in the second innings in the first Test, but captain Angelo Mathews made a brilliant unbeaten century and set up a daunting target of 302 runs.

Misbah accepted that his bowlers could not really penetrate through Sri Lanka’s batting lineup so they need different plans, and added that they did very well against Sangakkara and Jayawardene, but need to focus on others also.

Misbah and Younis Khan scored centuries in the first innings before Pakistan lost its last six wickets for 56 runs to be dismissed for 383, the Dawn reports.

Misbah further pointed that both teams realize that this is the ground where a result can be forced.

On the other hand, Mathews is confident of blunting spinner Saeed Ajmal in the second Test as they did in the series opener, keeping him wicketless in 49 overs in the second innings.
