There are people named ‘Kumar Sex’, ‘Congress’, ‘Rahul Gandhi’, ‘Arvind Kejriwal’ and ‘Computer’ on electoral rolls

Unbelievable as it may sound, some of the names on the Indian electoral rolls range from bizarre to downright hilarious. Listed in the data collected from 24 of the 35 states and Union Territories and put up on the Election Commission’s website, are several people named Rahul Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal and Narendra Modi.

The Election Commission of India’s Electoral Roll Search at National level has been a major initiative ahead of the elections. This service can be used by voters to search their names and get the information related to polling stations in the nation-wide electoral rolls.

This Lok Sabha polls, there are at least 450 voters named ‘Amitabh Bachchan’, 2 ‘Surma Bhopali’, 1 ‘Mr India’, 7000 ‘Gabbar Singh’!

Some really interesting names came up on a random search.

There are 302 voters named Rahul Gandhi, 1342 Narendra Modi and 5 Arvind Kejriwal. There are even 588 people named Congress! But that isn’t all, nine people on the list were named Communist.

History may hold the German dictator Adolf Hitler in contempt, but definitely not the family of the 1470 people named ‘Hitler’. There are even 2133 Sonia Gandhi there.

But perhaps one of the most interesting names to come up is that of Kumar Sex, from Jharkhand. That is, if you do not count the one person named Computer. There’s a Karl Marx, a Tablet and one Injection Kumar.
