A 30-year-old Delhi-based woman was allegedly gang-raped by two men, including a colleague, inside a Gurgaon hotel on April 15 after they called the victim on the pretext of helping her son get admission to a prominent school. The arrested duo, identified as Manish Kapoor and Kamal, had invited the victim for lunch at the Gurgaon hotel. The victim, a resident of Rohini, is working at a Gurgaon multi-specialty hospital as manager.
Kapoor worked as accountant at the same hospital.
According to the police, Kapoor had promised the woman of providing assistance in getting her son admitted to a reputed Delhi school.
Unknown to the victim, Kapoor had booked a room at the City Mark hotel where the meeting was fixed. ” After lunch, the two accused invited her to a hotel room for discussing the details about the admission,” Investigating Officer (IO) Ashok Kumar said.
“When the victim reached the hotel room, Kapoor and Kamal offered her soft drink laced with sedatives which she consumed and became unconscious. Taking advantage of her unconscious state, the duo gang- raped her inside the room,” the IO said.
On the same day, the victim approached the Rohini police station and registered an FIR against the duo.
As the incident had taken place in Gurgaon, the Rohini police station registered a zero FIR and transferred the case to its Gurgaon counterpart on Sunday. ” We registered an FIR against Manish Kapoor and Kamal under Section 376G and 34 of IPC at the Civil line police station and arrested them on Sunday evening,” Kumar said.
The duo was produced in a Gurgaon civil court on Monday which sent them to 14-day judicial custody.
