The next edition of Attakkalari India Biennial (AIB), South Asia’s largest international contemporary dance festival, will be held in venues across Bangalore from  6 to 15 February, 2015 and will aim at animating the city.

Programmed around the theme ‘Dance Connect’,  Attakkalari India Biennia 2015 is organised by the Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts (ACMA) to foster new connections in producing, presenting and receiving contemporary dance locally as well as globally. True to the theme of the next Biennial – “Dance Connect” – Attakkalari has devised a series of activities to connect individuals, communities, localities and organizations right across Bangalore and indeed throughout India and internationally.

Biennial 2015 will be officially launched on 26th and 27th August with an exciting performance by the Attakkalari Repertory at Ranga Shankara Theatre, JP Nagar.

The launch event will be attended by artists, friends, supporters and partners from the Media, Corporate, Educational, Cultural, Diplomatic, Government and Non-Government sectors.

Over the 6 editions so far, the Attakkalari India Biennial has emerged as a unique, vibrant and most important platform for contemporary movement arts in the South Asia region,  stimulating many artists and organisations to launch their own initiatives. (Please visit www.attakkalaribiennial.org for details about the 2013 Festival). Bringing more than two hundred  artists from twenty odd countries to Bangalore, the Attakkalari India Biennial 2015 has evolved as South Asia’s largest international contemporary dance festival.

Mr Jayachandran Palazhy, Artistic Director of Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts, says “Attakkalari India Biennial 2015 will mark the coming of age of contemporary dance practices in India,  and will open up new avenues for dance artists and audiences alike. Fresh ideas in training and skills development, experimentations and collaborative approaches in creation of new dance works, innovations in presentation, openness blended with constructive critiquing in the reception of performances etc., will be the hallmark of the coming Biennial. The citizens of Bangalore will connect with the Biennial and embrace it with their own initiatives to make dance part of their living in the city, wherever they reside, study or work. â€
