  1. What are the USPs of the mall and its design
  1. Orion is a part of the Brigade Gateway campus, which is a world class integrated enclave that also includes
  • 5 star Deluxe Sheraton Hotel
  • World Trade Centre Bangalore – Bangalore’s Tallest Office Building
  • Columbia Asia Hospital
  • The Brigade School at Gateway
  • Galaxy Club
  • 1200 + Premium residences spaces
  • A man- made lake
  • The exterior architecture of Orion mall is designed by New York’s renowned architectural firm HOK Architects and the interiors of the mall are designed by the famous Foley Designs and DSP.

The design ethos focuses on the customer taking the center-stage of the spatial expression. Orion expresses a seamless journey of experiences, made enjoyable through engaging spatial experiences. A pixelated patterned theme percolates through the mall, expressing its ‘stellar’ association, creating a breath-taking feel of an eclectic environment.

Dramatic water installations within Orion provide a sense of transformation from the world outside. The ‘Tree of life’ on the exterior of the building balances the vibrancy within the mall with a sense of serenity, providing a perfect symbol for the ambience created around the lake.

  • Lake Promenade: Orion has two frontages, one on Dr. Rajkumar Road and the other overlooking a large manmade lake. Adding to the experience is the open-air amphitheatre giving the mall a great sense of open space, and provides for scenic views. The fine dining restaurants at the Orion also has Al Fresco dining on the lake front.
  • Sprawled over 5 floors, the mall has ample space and has 29 escalators, 4 passenger lifts, 9 service lifts with 6 entries and exits, making it a comfortable and user friendly shopping experience for the customers.

Convenience facilities through provision of easily accessible escalators and elevators to deliver ease in mobility, comfortable benches to provide rest for the tired legs and many other facilities that lead to that unforgettable mall experience.

  1. Tell us about the massive mural on the exterior wall

The Mural and the Mall

The many-branched Tree of Life is a symbol—a mystical motif—common to different cultures, faiths, traditions, philosophies and mythologies across the world. With branches that reach into the sky, roots that delve into the earth and a trunk and leaves that offer sheltering embrace, the Tree of Life is a symbol of the interconnectedness of all life on our planet. It is variously a symbol of creation, healing, knowledge, fertility, time, regeneration and immortality. It speaks of common origins and shared destinies.

The Tree of Life in this mural is a metaphor for contemporary life in India: we reach out with global aspirations even as we draw strength from roots nourished by tradition. The idea is represented in the central part of the tree, with its appearance transmuting subtly from classically Indian to universal, as it stretches upwards and onwards.

Little icons—butterflies, parrots, flowers, leaves, fruit, stars; all magically morphing into one another—represent both pockets of traditional form, as well as a culture that has spread all over the world. The Cycle of Time is represented as day (the Sun) and night (the Moon) on either side of the tree.

In Indian mythology the Tree of Life is often found growing from the mouth of a mythical creature named Yalli. Part lion, part elephant and part crocodile, Yalli is found at the entrance of many a South Indian temple, positioned to keep evil at bay. The playful stance of the Yalli in this mural represents a willingness to adapt to the changing drumbeat of a new India.
