Wax statues of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president Sharad Pawar and playback singer Asha Bhosle were unveiled at the MCA lounge of the Wankhede Stadium here on Wednesday.
The two statues were made by a Lonavala-based wax museum.
Lauding the sculptors for the statue, Bhosle said she had always wanted a wax museum to open in India.
“After seeing Madame Tussauds gallery in London, I thought that a similar gallery should be there in India. This is just the beginning; there is lot more work to be done. The wax statues are really good and I pray that you get to make more statues like this,” she said.
Pawar said that the voices of Asha Bhosle and Lata Mangeshkar were immortal, and their legacy should be carried forward.
Bhosle also enthralled the audience after, on Pawar’s request, she sang a Marathi song.
