Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on the last leg of his three-nation tour, said on Monday that in the one year since he has been in office, the world’s perception of India has changed.
“In the last one year, the world’s perception of India has changed. India is being seen as the fastest growing economy of the world,” Prime Minister Modi said while addressing the Indian community at a reception here.
“Today, people are excited to come to India. This is the mood that has changed. And, after all, the people make the nation,” he added.
Talking about development, the Prime Minister said that development is not about big roads but is about a change in the quality of life.
“The path is tough, but, we have embraced that path. The solution to all problems is development. Development is not about big roads and buildings. It’s about a change in the quality of life. For instance, we want every home to have a toilet,” he said.
The Prime Minister also pitched his ‘Make in India’ initiative.
“I want India to be a manufacturing hub. The world’s best technology should come to India,” he said.
Prime Minister Modi also thanked all political parties for the passage of India-Bangladesh Land Boundary Agreement.
Prime Minister Modi arrived in Seoul this morning. He is later scheduled to participate in restricted talks with South Korea President Park Geun-hye, before meeting U N Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.
