FIFA president Sepp Blatter has condemned the action of certain individuals for bringing shame and humiliation to the football community, but has denied from taking responsibility for the series of events.
Blatter, who many people are holding “ultimately responsible” for the football community , said that he could not monitor everyone all the time.
He said that series of events had cast a long shadow over football, adding that the situation demanded action and change from the whole football fraternity.
Meanwhile, the European football confederation UEFA had been demanding the postponement of the presidential elections after football’s world governing body became entangled in two corruption storms.
Earlier, FIFA was plunged into the most serious scandal in its history on Wednesday football officials were arrested in Zurich on corruption charges. Seven officials, including the FIFA vice-president Jeffrey Webb from the Cayman Islands, were arrested by Swiss authorities on behalf of the US Department of Justice, which has indicted 18 people alleging bribery totalling over 150 million dollars.
