Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, who left for Beijing today, expressed hope that his visit would deepen mutual understanding and trust between both nations.
He is expected to spend six days in China where he will conduct bilateral meetings and other engagements.
“During my China visit I intend to further strengthen the tradition of mutual learning and better understanding from each other. I’m looking forward to my visit to China. Hope it would help in deepening of mutual understanding and trust,” he said in a series of tweets.
Singh, the first Home Minister to visit China in about a decade, is scheduled to hold talks with Chinese officials in Beijing during the first leg of his visit that will also take him to Shanghai.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had visited earlier in May this year during which both sides agreed to deepen relations in all aspects while addressing the vexed border issue.
