Bangalore, May 15: Don Bosco Institute of Technology organised National conference on Frontiers of Computer Science and MechShow 2014 on Thursday. The National Level Conference has been organizing by institute in view of the overall development of the students. It was organised in sessions which commenced by a Guest lecture by eminent people from various colleges and IT Companies. The Chief guest was Satish Chandra Doreswamy, CBOO, WIPRO Technologies and key addresses by Dr. Narahari Y, Prof, IISc.
The students presented papers in various arena of Computer Science and winning paper was awarded. Presentations were received from all over the state from various engineering colleges. The sessions were presided by Dr Dakshayini, Dr GuruPrasad from BMSCE and Dr Raju, Dr Sudamani from RNSIT. Mr. Nagaraj, HOD, CSE, briefed about the conference and the motive behind holding such a national event.
The session was followed by Guest Lecture by Dr Giridhar, Professor, IIT Madras on Broad Band and its applications which enthralled the students.
The college had also organised MechShow 2014, which housed the innovative projects done by the Final Semester Engineering students. The Show was bubbling with creativity and energy. The students were involved in various kinds of projects which were socially effective and technically demanding.
One project was involved with the tensile strength testing of the plastic which shows the amount of load a plastic can withstand. The fuel level indicator as the fuel is being filled up in the petrol bunk so that the customer is not being cheated; fire sensitive automatic emergency exits in Volvo buses and AC trains were socially demanding ones.
The show also had glass fibres and their use in mechanical industry, uses of various bio-diesels etc.
Adding to this Dr Ramamurthy, HOD-ME said, they have been organising this show from past 5 years and intend to extend this on a larger scale to invite various colleges across the state.
DBIT Principal, Dr Srinivasan said the institute is aimed at providing a holistic approach to learning, be it in-house projects or the national conferences since the inception of the institute.
