New Delhi, May 22: Deputy National Security Advisor (NSA) Nehchal Sandhu on Thursday said that an array of militant groups continue to enjoy much latitude in Pakistan which creates an environment of animosity between the neighbours.
Speaking at an event of the Border Security Force in the capital, the former Intelligence Bureau Chief said that restrictions on militant groups, which conducted the 2008 Mumbai attacks, evaporated quickly in Pakistan.
“An array of terrorist groups which have previously exhibited the ability to carry out deputations in several states of India continue to enjoy much latitude in Pakistan and they remain very active,” said Sandhu.
He also said that sections of the state continue to extend support to these militant groups, even though the outfits conduct uncontrolled outpouring of slanderous propaganda against India.
Warning India of increased militant activity and infiltration bids in the coming months, Sandhu said the paramilitary forces such as the BSF carries a huge responsibility on its shoulders to safeguard the country’s borders.
He also said that the militant outfits have been camping and training their members in neighboring Bangladesh.
“As we head into summer, launching pads are likely to be reactivated and determined attempts will be made for infiltration. The burden for thwarting the same will essentially fall upon the BSF. The proxy platforms of these outfits in Bangladesh, although exposed in many parts and places, continue to maintain their vitality,” said Sandhu.
