Shillong: A chilling video has come to the fore in Meghalaya, which shows alleged militants of the Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) mercilessly thrashing suspected “police informers”.
The video has been released by the Meghalaya police.
Reports quoted police as saying that the video is authentic and was reportedly shot on a mobile phone on September 4.
The video was recovered from the mobile of GNLA militant Bestfield K Marak, who was killed in an encounter with police at Pakregre village on September 10, East Garo Hills superintendent of police Davies N Marak was quoted as saying by an English daily.
In the video, GNLA militants are seen mercilessly beating villagers with canes until they fell unconscious. Some of the villagers were even beaten up by four to five men together.
Pakregre is a remote village located in East Garo Hills district.
