India Tops among Asian Countries in Number of GRE Test Takers, Surpassing China

In Asia, India stands first in terms of total number of Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) test-takers. Around 44% of total GRE takers in Asia belong to India, as revealed by research report ‘A snapshot of the individuals who took the GRE revised general test’.
The press release mentioned that the report data was compiled on the basis of more than 5 lakhs GRE test-takers in between July 1, 2012, and June 30, 2013 with having valid scores in all the 3 sections.
The GRE test takers from Asia were 1, 19,855 in total, with 99.9 per cent of examinees i.e. 119,714 test writers having plans of pursuing major in graduate.
The characteristics of GRE exam takers from Asia shown male population being 62 % and roughly 55% fall in the age group of 18 to 22.
Above 96 % test-takers were of or below 30 years of age. The applicants from China were about39 per cent, while India led with 44% applicants, both embracing 89% population of the whole Asian test-takers lot.
Roughly 32% examinee belong to final year batch of their college, whereas, 13% took the exam being in their college’s third year only.
Furthermore, the revised score of general test of all 3 sections in the exam stayed consistent with report of last year, for Indian test-takers.
Most importantly, GRE test-takers considering natural sciences as their envisioned graduate major rose from 27 % to now 32%.
