The ICC World Twenty20 gripped Bangladesh for three weeks and now it’s the turn of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) that awaits the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) debut in the gulf, with reports of Bollywood stars joining the gala opening.
The Gulf News has reported that Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit and Deepika Padukone will grace the opening ceremony of IPL 7 on April 15. “According to sources, Dixit will join Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone at the private star-studded gala before the first phase of IPL matches in the UAE kick off on April 16, the newspaper reported.
However, the daily added that while Madhuri is confirmed to perform on her hit numbers, Shah Rukh will just be part of the gala dinner and make a small appearance on the stage to interact with the guests.
“Shah Rukh Khan won’t perform on stage at the gala dinner but he will interact with the guests and invite them on stage for some impromptu song-dance entertainment. For that full-fledged performance, Madhuri Dixit has been confirmed,” the Gulf News source said.
The report also said that Deepika will join Shah Rukh on stage in his antics to charm the UAE crowd.
IPL 7 was moved to the UAE due to the General Elections in India. The UAE leg will host the first 20 matches from April 16 to 30, while the remaining 40 will be hosted by India from May 2. The final will be played on June 1.
