Against Government’s decision to make Mysore – Bangalore highway as a 6-lane express way.
The protesters led by Yogananda Patel and Mari Gowda, Gram Panchayath
member, Tooganakere submitted the memorandum to the District commissioner
of Mandya. Yogananda Patel also submitted the memorandum to MLA Mr.
Ambareesh, PWD Minister, Mr. H.C Mahadevappa and MP Mr. C.S Puttaraju in
Zilla Panchayath Office.
The main topic of the memorandum was about the State Government acquiring
land for road broadening of Bangalore – Mysore highway. The memorandum said
that there has already been land acquisition for the construction of the Bangalore
– Mysore infrastructure corridor by Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises
(NICE) Ltd. The Making of 6-lane by the State Government would mean acquiring
new land. It would also mean levy of toll on the uses of the 6-lane.
The memorandum proposed that if toll has to be anyway borne by commuters
the proposed 111-km NICE road itself can be used instead of the new one
proposed by the State Government.
