May 31st, Bangalore: India’s leading dental care hospitals, Vasan Dental Care celebrated World No Tobacco Day today at various chain of hospitals in association with the Rotary Club, Bangalore. Rotary Club played an important role in the conducting of Pulse polio campaign and from past 3 years, India is announced as Polio-free nation. The same initiative is taken globally to say “No Tobacco worldwide”.
Representatives from various sections of the society were present in this event. A signing the pledge campaign was carried out by the Vasan Dental Care group which said “I solemnly pledge to abstain from tobacco use in any form and also educate others with the same.”
Dr Shradha Sharma from Vasan Dental Care said ” We are conducting this signage campaign to support the anti-tobacco notion started by the WHO. We are requesting the public to come here and sign the pledge and abstain from any forms of tobacco and also spread the awareness about the same. Not only cancer, there are so many other diseases which are associated with tobacco use and this menace has to be put to an end.
A fellow citizen said he really appreciates this pledging drive started by the Vasan Dental Care and he urged the youngsters to stop falling as prey to the tobacco.
World No Tobacco day is celebrated on May 31st of every year to create an awareness about the the harmful effects of the Tobacco and its products. This has been initiated by the World Health Organisation in association with the Rotary International.
