Hyderabad: It has come to light that Konda Reddy, who did the botched-up laser hair removal treatment on Chandana Reddy, an NRI, is a physiotherapist. Mr Konda Reddy has submitted his documents to the Madhapur police along with a certificate of a six-month cosmetology course from Apple Pro Beauty Saloon. The certificates were produced only three days ago, raising doubts over their veracity as the incident took place on June 18.
Ms Chandana Reddy, meanwhile, has requested the police to take immediate action against Mr Konda Reddy and the clinic owner, Dr M. Kiran Kumar, for appointing a non-clinical practitioner for the job. A distressed Ms Reddy said, “It’s taking too long. They have produced the certificates only now. How does one know that they are real? ”
Meanwhile, despite the furor over her face being burnt due to the treatment, the clinic continues to operate and no action has been taken against it yet. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation is yet to be approached to check on the legal aspects of permission for the clinic. Similarly, the Andhra Pradesh Medical Council has stated that it has not received any intimation from the police yet, and since it is a laser treatment case, the council expects the complainant to lodge a formal complaint.
Ms Chandana Reddy, who has been running from one government office to another to get the culprits booked, said, “I want them to be punished for their wrong doing. They cannot be allowed to operate freely without any accountability.”
Senior inspector Srinivas Rao said, “We are writing to the colleges and the association that have issued the certificates to check on their authenticity. We will take action after verifying all the details.”
