Mr. K Siddaramaiah, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Government of Karnataka, to inaugurate the summit
Bangalore, August 4, 2014: Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) will be organizing the 10thIndia Innovation Summit on the 8th and 9th of August 2014 at ITC Royal Gardenia, Bangalore. At a press conference held here today Mr. S Gopalakrishnan, Immediate Past President, CII & Chairman, 10th India Innovation Summit announced the theme for this year’s Innovation Summit as “Innovation for Inclusive Growth”. Hon’ble Chief Minister, Government of Karnataka, Mr. K Siddaramaiah will be the chief guest at the 10th India Innovation Summit.
The India Innovation Summit is an ideal platform for the industry to explore the dynamic entrepreneurship environment in the country in terms of its opportunities and challenges.
Mr. S Gopalakrishnan, stated that the unique feature of the event is that it is for thepracticeioners, by the practiceioners. The sessions and panel discussions are typically based on case studies. Innovation has an important role to play in changing the environment for all sections of society and there is a need to look at innovation in agriculture, food & food production, market linkages, healthcare and every sector and facet of our life. Therefore this year we have chosen the theme “Innovation for Inclusive Growth”.
He said that hosting the Innovation Summit in Bangalore is an added advantage as the city is ideally suited for innovation due to the presence of several large companies, government institutions, R&D centers, prominent medical facilities and academic institutions which drives an ecosystem for innovation. Bangalore is the startup capital of India as well as Asia and is also recognized as one of the premier startup destinations in the world.
Mr. Sandeep Maini, Chairman, CII Karnataka State Council, said that the India Innovation Summit, since its inception in 2005, has grown to be one of the flagship events of CII. It has played a critical role in creating a strong and visible platform for discussing strategies imperative for the growth of the economy. He pointed out that 2010 to 2020 has been declared the decade of Innovation and it is fitting that India Innovation Summit is held in a city like Bangalore that not only is the IT hub of the country but also the R&D hub as well.
Mr. Vijay Kumar Ivaturi, Co-Founder and CTO, Crayon Data Pte, while elaborating the theme of the summit, said that in the first few years of the summit the focus was on innovation models and concepts. In the recent years the themes were a little more external focused i.e. ‘Bangalore as a Hub of Innovation for the World’ and ‘India as a Startup Nation’. This year CII is focusing on the role of innovation in nation building. The summit will primarily cover different sectors which have a public service impact and the enablers which support them.
For the past 9 years, CII India Innovation Summit has provided an ideal platform for the Industry to understand the various nuances of Innovation, the critical role innovation plays in business success and how imperative it is for the industry to embed innovation across its spectrum of business activities and processes. Since its inception in 2005 the India Innovation Summit has brought together over 4500 experts, innovators and practitioners from diverse backgrounds to discuss and deliberate on various topics related to innovation.
