Skype has planned to discontinue calls to mobiles and landlines within India from November 10, 2014. The company hasn’t mentioned any particular reason for this decision. Reports state that Skype will refund the amount to its registered Indian users who have been affected by this. You can claim for the refund, only if the subscription is unused and it hasn’t expired.
Even though you can’t make free Skype calls to mobiles and landlines, you can still make free Skype-to-Skype calls within India. If one is always on the move, you will only be able to make calls to mobiles and landlines in India from outside the country (as well as make calls from India to other countries).
On its official website, Skype has made its Indian users cautious by stating, ‘If you’ve bought a subscription to India specifically to call within the country, you can cancel your subscription to avoid being billed in the future.’
To cancel your subscription on Skype, you need to cancel the recurring payments. For example, if you purchase a 3-month subscription, and then choose to cancel it, the subscription will remain active until the end of the 3-month period.
