New Delhi, Jan.22: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday claimed that over 50 lakh members have enrolled in its ‘Main Bhi Aam Aadmi’ campaign and added that membership will be cancelled of those, who violate the AAP’s constitution.

“More than 50 lakh people have enrolled with the AAP till now. We are sure that our target of enrolling one crore members till January 26 will be accomplished,” AAP leader Gopal Rai told media here today.

“From day one, we have been saying that it is moral membership. If anybody who is indulges in activities that are against the party principles and rules, then the membership of that person will be cancelled,” Rai added.

Rai also said that the AAP is giving two types of membership- common membership and active membership.

“The active members are chosen through a proper procedure. Firstly a person has to work for the party for at least four months. Afterwards, there is a check and balance system. The common membership is open for everybody,” he said.

The 17-day ‘Main Bhi Aam Aadmi’ campaign aims to garner support in several states, where the AAP wants to contest on a substantial number of seats in the Lok Sabha elections.

The campaign was kick started on January 10 by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Gopal Rai. Rai has been made in charge of the campaign.
