100th Cartoon Exhibition at IIC

Bangalore, 14 June 2014: “We are proud to present this 100th exhibition of cartoons to the people of India. It has been a great encouraging journey for us. Since the establishment of the cartoon gallery, 7 years ago we have been organising an exhibition every month. Much of the credit of the success undoubtedly goes to our beloved Hon’ble Chairman Mr. Ashok Kheny, who has firmly stood the ground since seven years and provided all the necessary infrastructure” said V.G.Narendra, Managing Trustee, Indian Institute of Cartoonists during the inauguration of 100th Cartoon exhibition at Indian Cartoon Gallery. The exhibition was inaugurated on 14 June, in Indian Cartoon Gallery by Mr.H.S.Balram, Director, Asianet News Network.

The cartoons exhibited were of contemporary type and explained the current situation of the country.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Tanmay Tyagi, Cartoonist and 1st prize winner of Maya Kamath Memorial Awards said “Cartooning is a powerful medium but unfortunately today we do not see too many political cartoons in a newspaper, a medium which was earlier dominated by cartoonists.”

The exhibition will be open to public till 25th August 2014 at The Indian Cartoon Gallery, No 1, Midford Gardens, Behind Big Kids Kemp, Off MG Road, Bangalore- 1.

Indian Institute of Cartoonists is organising 100th Exhibition of Cartoons on 14th  June 2014 at the cartoon gallery. The works of 15 eminent cartoonists who have been felicitated by IIC with ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’, including R. K. Laxman , Mario de Miranda, Unny, Pran ; the works of the  well-known cartoonists who are no more with us including Shankar Pillai, Abu Abraham, B.V.Ramamurthy, Ranga, Maya Kamath ; the works of the cartoonists who have exhibited their cartoons at the gallery and the works of the prize winners of all the 6 MKMA Competitions was part of the exhibition.
