Habiganj, June 3: Bangladesh’s Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Tuesday recovered huge cache of arms in Satchharhi jungles of the country’s Habiganj district bordering India’s Tripura state.
According to bdnews24.com, around 200 high explosive anti-tank weapons with as many chargers were recovered in a daylong drive in the Satchharhi hill.
RAB’s Additional Director General (operations) Colonel Ziaul Ahsan told bdnews24.com that there is a possibility of further recovery of arms and ammunition as the search is not yet fully completed.
The recovery at Satchharhi is perhaps the single biggest case of arms seizure since the 2004 Chittagong arms case.
Col Ahsan said the weapons were found inside bunkers dug in deep holes in the hillock and the team is investigating the source of arms.
RAB’s sources linked the recovered arms with the now-weakened All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF).
