Workshop on technology options for Decentralised Wastewater management

On World Environment Day, Rajiv Gandhi Rural Housing Corporation Limited (RGRHCL), Bremen Overseas Research and Development Association (BORDA), Germany, and Consortium for DEWATS Dissemination (CDD) Society, with support from Government of Karnataka, BWSSB (Bangalore water supply and Sewerage Board) ,Karnataka state pollution control board (KSPCB),Directorate municipal Administration (DMA) and Karnik is organizing a Workshop on Technology Options for Decentralised Wastewater Management – Towards Sustainable Environment, in partnership with Rajiv Gandhi Rural Housing Corporation Limited (RGRHCL) . This Workshop aims at providing a platform for exchanging knowledge and experience in the field of decentralised wastewater treatment services and environmental protection.

Towards a Sustainable Environment – Workshop held on World Environment Day to discuss technology options for Decentralised Wastewater management.

On the occasion of the World Environment Day, Rajiv Gandhi Rural Housing Corporation Limited (RGRHCL), Bremen Overseas Research and Development Association (BORDA), Germany and Consortium for DEWATS Dissemination (CDD) Society, with support from Government of Karnataka, BWSSB (Bangalore water supply and Sewerage Board), Karnataka state pollution control board (KSPCB), Directorate municipal Administration(DMA) and Karnik organised a Workshop on Technology Options for Decentralised Wastewater Management – Towards Sustainable Environment, in partnership with Rajiv Gandhi Rural Housing Corporation Limited (RGRHCL) . The major objective of the event was to provide a platform for exchanging knowledge and experience in the field of decentralised wastewater treatment services and environmental protection and its implementation at different scales.

The inaugural sessions of the event was addressed by the Hon’ble Minister of Housing Department, (GoK) Sri.  Ambareesh. This was followed by a Welcome Address from Ms. Susmita Sinha, (Director – R&D, Knowledge Management and Capacity Building at CDD Society)

Prof. T.Swaminathan from IIT, Madras was the main event moderator, who also provided an introductory presentation on the domain of wastewater at large and treatment technologies in particular.

The event concluded with a Panel discussion to discuss knowledge sharing priorities and reflections gained from implementation experiences in the wastewater sector at large (From Knowing to Implementing – Towards Sustainable Sanitation Strategies).

The event was attended by approximately 150 people from government departments, NGOs, civil engineers, environmental engineers, architects, students and researchers.

It was envisaged that this workshop will help us choose appropriate wastewater treatment technologies to assure a cleaner, greener environment.

CDD Society is a non-government organization aiming to promote environmental conservation through the provision of Decentralised Basic Needs Services (DBNS).
